Call for Proposals
Closing date: 29th May 2026
Sovereign Capability, Global Impact
The AEO Forum 2026 will continue to explore the growth of Australian Earth Observation Securities through the ongoing strengthening of national/sovereign Earth Observation capabilities across key pillars such as Food, Water, Energy, Transport, Community, Environment, Disaster Resilience and Climate.
Building on this exploration, the forum hopes to drive discussion on how advancements in local Earth Observation innovation, Collaboration and Sovereign Data Systems, can build resilient communities, sustainable industries, protect critical environment assets across Australia while delivering globally significant solutions to contribute to shared environmental and social challenges worldwide.
Session & Presentation Types
Themed Concurrent Session
The Organising Committee for AEO26 would like to invite community members to propose ‘Themed Sessions’ to be included within the conference program.
These sessions are designed to allow Earth Observation community members the opportunity to convene a specific session of interest, containing four Individual Presentations aligned to a common theme, challenge facing the industry or recent EO mission that is of key interest. Those wishing to convene a themed session are expected to not only propose the theme, but also submit abstracts for presentations that are to be included within the session.
Individual Presentations
Individual presentations will be grouped by the programming committee into related themes or areas and presented in concurrent sessions. Each presenter will have 15 minutes to share their work and 5 minutes for Q&A, for a total of 20 minutes.
Abstracts submitted for consideration as an individual presentation will be considered for lightning talks or poster displays if not accepted for the individual presentation format.
Posters
Posters will be displayed in a poster gallery at the venue. Delegates will be encouraged to visit the poster gallery and interact with presenters, with ‘Poster Sessions’ being held during the forum.
Although not mandatory, Poster Presenters are encouraged to be available during these times to present their work.
Lightning Talks
Lightning talks will be presented during dedicated concurrent sessions during the Forum. Each talk will be 5 minutes long. Lightning talks will be presented in 60 minute blocks of 10 talks (max) followed by a 30 minute question/discussion period during which all presenters will be available for discussion with members of the audience. There is no limit to the number of slides you can use, only the presentation time.
Workshops
Workshops should be interactive and foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between participants. Workshops should be structured to ensure the goals of the workshop can be realistically achieved in a 3 or 6-hour period.
Workshop organisers are responsible for coordinating and leading the session, guiding participants through activities, providing PowerPoints slides and guidance documents if needed, and facilitating the kind of participant involvement you would like.
